Vinted Shoppers Express Anger About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
