Approximately twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Impact
Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams handled 598 emergency reports across the region, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both states.
